Book Launch Event on October 21st

You and a guest are invited to a special event celebrating the publication of " A Concise History of Veterinary Medicine" written by Susan D. Jones and Peter A. Koolmees. There will be presentations by the authors. The event will include the opportunity to purchase this book and have it signed by the authors. Pre-registration is required.

How to Register for the Event: Registration closed. The event successfully introduced 52 students and alumni to the importance on knowing the history of their profession.

When: October 21st from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the St. Paul Campus for this event. The event will be in Room 135 of the Animal Science/Veterinary Medicine Building. This building is located next to the Pomeroy Alumni Building at 1988 Fitch Ave So., St. Paul MN 55108. 

Who: CVM veterinary faculty and students, MVHM donors, pre-veterinary club members and honored guests. This event is being co-hosted with the student fraternity Alpha Psi.

What: The event will include heavy hors d'oeuvres. A brief presentation by a donor of the MVHM will precede the main event.

Susan D. Jones is a Distinguished McKnight University Professor at the University of Minnesota in the program of  History of Science and Technology. She is a trained veterinarian and historian. Her other titles include "Death in a Small  Package: A Short History of Anthrax", and "Valuing Animals: Veterinarians and Their Patients in Modern America".

Emeritus professor Peter A. Koolmees is a member of the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities of Utrecht University in the Netherlands and a trained BSc and historian. He served as president from 2000-2004 of the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine. 

From 2008-2014 Susan D. Jones and Peter A. Koolmees served as co-presidents of the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine.
