Dr. Lanny Kraus celebrates Dr. Manning Legacy with Manning Family

Lanny Kraus is a 1963 graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Following an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at Wake Forest University, he became Board Certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. He spent the majority of his career at the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine where he retired in 1998 as Professor Emeritus.

His long-time interest in the history of his profession was initiated
during a course taught by Dr. J. Fred Smithcors, the noted veterinary historian, in his freshman year at Michigan State.

He lives in Beaufort, South Carolina where he has been a certified historic tour guide in the National Historic District for the past 25 years.

Dr. Kraus donated his personal collection of seventy historic books in honor of his friend and colleague, Dr. Patrick Manning.  The highlights of this collection are here.  The earliest dates from 1854.
