Museum Celebrates New Veterinary History Book

Professor Susan D. Jones of the University of Minnesota and her Dutch colleague, Professor Peter Koolmees of the University of Utrecht, completed a book titled A Concise History of Veterinary Medicine, published by Cambridge University Press in August.

The museum hosted a public launch celebration for the book on October 21 at the College of Veterinary Medicine, co-hosted by Alpha Psi fraternity. Fifty-two people attended, including many students.

Success of the event will likely lead to future events introducing students to the history and the ethical foundations of our profession.

Dr. Susan Jones holds a D.V.M. and a Ph.D. in history, and has a dual appointment in the History of Science and Technology program and the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. She is officed on the St. Paul campus. She is a wonderfully engaging speaker with whom the museum hopes to plan future events.
